Of all the amazing burgers on offer in London right now, Bleecker’s double cheeseburger is our pick of the bunch.
We invariably go double because the aged beef patty is so flavoursome that a single never seems enough. Served medium rare, this is one of the juiciest burgers around and because they don’t go overboard on toppings, you can eat one and stay relatively clean. The toasted sesame seed bun, onions, American cheese and secret sauce are super simple but perfect additions.
They recently added a bacon cheeseburger to the menu. Bacon generally improves most foods but it’s an opinion splitter when it comes to burgers. In this case though, the addition of strips of lovely, crispy streaky bacon works very well indeed.
Bleecker also serve a tasty blue cheese burger and a veggie burger (although we’ve obviously never tried one). On the side it’s hard to fault their supremely moreish skin-on angry fries. Covered in hot sauce and blue cheese, these go down an absolute treat.
Bleecker is owned and run by Zan Kaufman, who swapped practising law in New York City for serving up fantastic burgers on the streets of London. I’m very glad she did. If you catch sight of the distinctive black truck, make sure you make a pit stop.
However, they are currently in residence on the South Bank near the skate park, serving burgers and a great selection of craft beers to wash them down.
